According to foreign media reports, Jerusalem's father and son Ben-Etzion Yaron and Nissan Yaron have developed a technology that allows drivers to control music playing, making phone calls, viewing information and navigating while keeping their eyes on the road. This technology only needs to follow the direction of the driver's fingers on the screen to know what the driver wants to do. The father and son founded Inpris, a six-person company, in 2011.
The company has developed a technology called invisible touch (SIGHTLESS TOUCH), which is protected by seven patents from the United States, China and South Korea. The technology uses finger movement detection and voice control to activate automotive commands.
The product InprisWay comes from this technology and is built into automotive hardware. In this technology, drivers can use two kinds of media: fast system and hybrid voice control system. The shortcut system is used to activate drivers'frequently selected options, such as contacting frequent callers or navigating to frequently visited places. With the fast system, the driver only needs to place three fingers on the dashboard screen. Each finger has a preset function: a control phone, a control navigation, and a control music. For example, if you want to listen to music, the driver only needs to put the "music finger" (preset as the index finger) on the dashboard, and remove the middle finger and the ring finger. Then the four radio options preset by the driver will pop up immediately on the screen.
Navigation and telephone functions work in the same way. The driver leaves "navigation finger" or "telephone finger" on the screen, and then four preset options appear. Drivers can navigate home or call good friends by simply sliding in the direction of the options they need (up, down, left, right). If the driver wants to use four options other than preset, he can use hybrid voice control system. First, the driver slides up, down, left and right with two fingers, depending on the direction of the driver's sliding. The voice command will ask one of the four options.
The aim of this technology is to minimize the language output that users need, because drivers usually use voice command technology in cars, and they waste a lot of time to make the technology understand what they mean, especially if there are children screaming or loud noises in the car. Therefore, the questions raised by the technology are very short and direct, and the driver only needs to answer in one or two words.
The difference between InprisWay and its competitors'products is that it does not require users to click on specific buttons on the dashboard like other systems. The system is entirely directional, so the driver can slide anywhere on the screen and get the same results.
In May last year, Inpris signed an exclusive agreement with Shenzhen Hanstone Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. (Asia-Pacific), a Chinese technology company, as a first-class supplier to automakers, to help them produce 1 million cars equipped with InprisWay by April 2020. Currently, about 6,000 vehicles on the road around the world are equipped with the technology, some of which have built-in InprisWay hardware, and some are used in the aftermarket.
